Why do we exist as humans?

Common question most people want to know is "why do we exist?"

The simple answer is to worship God.

"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me."- Quran (51:56)

This verse says it all, and largely sums up the purpose of our existence.
Allah brought us into existence, and guided us to our purpose of living; Worshipping Him.

The development of life on earth and the famous questions of existence boggling the human mind, are all correlated and constitute cornerstone to human fulfilment in this life and salvation in the hereafter.

Firstly and in order to pinpoint our mission on earth as human beings and our intended role in it, we ought to locate our position in it, basically who we are? The prime element of our identity is being God’s successors on Earth.

“And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority." They said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."- Quran (2:30)

And such position is bound to fulfilment of a set of duties and responsibilities- outlined and clearly defined in the Quran and Sunnah.

There’s pre-hand agreement that mankind uphold their mission of vicegerency on Earth.

“Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant.” – Quran (33:72)

But the question is have we managed to hold fast to such mission- Fulfil its obligations, And over and above; enjoy it?

How Can We Lead Such Life?
“And thus we have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over the people and the Messenger will be a witness over you. And We did not make the Qiblah which you used to face except that We might make evident who would follow the Messenger from who would turn back on his heels. And indeed, it is difficult except for those whom Allah has guided. And never would Allah have caused you to lose your faith. Indeed Allah is, to the people, Kind and Merciful.”- Quran (2:143)

We simply need to follow the divine guidance, grasp the light of the Quran and the Sunnah, follow the footsteps of the Prophet and fear only Allah- Love Him.

This is the core of our life and existence. And by adjusting the core, our entire existence will gain meaning and adjust accordingly.

“Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah , then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."- Quran (3:31)
It is not befitting us Muslims to fail to keep our promises and covenants, let alone our vow to Almighty Allah, as He addresses us in the Quran, saying:

“O you who have believed, fulfil [all] contracts.”- Quran (5:1)
It’s this covenant that answers our questions of existence, namely; Who we are, Why we are here, What are we supposed to do, Where we came from, and What are we heading for.
It’s this one covenant, which if we failed to live up to, shall bring down the whole establishment of a meaningful life.

This life is a test it is nothing compared to the hereafter, it is  trial & everyone has their own trials in life. As long as you follow the Quran & Sunnah God willing you wont go astray.
